The Public Health Advocacy Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit legal/public health leadership organization, funded through government foundation grants and the generous support of individual donors.

Tobacco litigation is at a crucial turning point in its history. Around the nation, state health departments are under attack due to lower state revenues and industry lobbying. This recent trend compounds the damaging decision made by many states to spend MSA funds on everything but tobacco control.

But that’s not all. Around the world, tobacco companies plot to further their schemes, marketing their deadly products and killing more and more innocent people.

In the midst of these setbacks, however, tobacco litigation is gaining momentum. Just over a decade after the birth of state tobacco control programs, public health advocates, attorneys, doctors and academics are valiantly standing at the frontlines, fighting to hold tobacco companies accountable for their countless crimes against humanity, and protecting the future of generations yet to come. Please help us push back the grotesque universal epidemic caused by the tobacco industry’s deadly products. Make a donation.

With your support, we can:

  • Reduce the health impact of smoking and environmental tobacco smoke;

  • Enforce non-smokers’ rights to smoke-free air;

  • Support litigation to enforce existing legislation and regulations restricting predatory tobacco industry marketing practices and other behaviors that cause personal and economic harm; and

  • Assist local, national, and international governments as well as non-governmental associations, in undertaking tobacco control measures armed with the legal information necessary to resist tobacco industry intimidation.

We need your help to continue our legal work.
